K-Pop Hottie of the Week: Minho

Another week, another gorgeous K-Pop guy. This time it’s our shiny Minho.

Minho is a member of the five member band SHINee (get it? ‘Shiny’ Minho? It’s such an overused pun when it concerns SHINee). He is their rapper and the mandatory tall, handsome guy. Now how about some facts?

Position in band: Rapper, visual (there’s a little uncertainty over this one, though)

Truth be told, as much as I love SHINee, I don’t know much about Minho’s family and younger life. He was born in Seoul, and as far as I know lived a pretty normal childhood before becoming a trainee at SM Entertainment (SHINee’s label– they own Super Junior too).

Minho’s the rapper in SHINee, and has a mellow and laid-back voice, you could say. He also sings once in a while. In all honesty, not too many people are fans of Minho’s rap, and I personally think that with his mellow voice he should really sing more. He's also acted in a couple of dramas.

And did I mention his nickname is 'Flaming Charisma'?

 Minho has a pretty outgoing and assertive personality, and is one of the talkers of the band. But he’s not really attention-hungry, even though he is quite competitive. He's also quite athletic-- in the 2012 Athletics Idol Championship (a track and field event that K-Pop celebrities take part in) Minho won five gold medals, and played an Olympic high jumper in a drama. I’ve heard that in Hello Baby, the show where SHINee had to take care of a baby (don’t ask me about Korean shows– they’re extreme like that), Minho was very responsible and mature. So add another tick to the boyfriend-material checklist.

 Actually, there’re a lot of people (not SHINee fans, obviously) who say that Minho is an unnecessary part of the band, that Key (SHINee’s other rapper) is better than Minho, and that Minho’s just there for his face. Of course, if you’re a SHINee fan, you get that SHINee would never truly be SHINee without Minho, and every band needs their variety expert.

The other members also unanimously decided that Minho is their ‘god of gluttony’. This guy apparently never stops eating, and can eat enough food for ten people. Every time he missed a meal you could see it on his face. They say he used to eat more before, but then had a dream that he ate so much that his stomach burst. That’s one way of cutting down on food.
